"I wonder if he's gonna take those kids pocket change if they mess up." - Maceo

The story of one of the most influential musicians in history, James Brown, The Godfather of Soul. As far as character building histories go, it's a good one. And it's told in a less than linear way, so it took me a minute to find my groove. And, the actual storytelling was kind of flimsy. James Brown accomplished a lot. They kind of breeze past much of it. BUT....

...Chadwick Boseman, who plays the Godfather himself, is AWESOME. He WAS James Brown. Despite his wife beating and troubles with the tax man, James Brown can leave the legacy of being a true showman and that's what this film is about.

Say it loud. I'M BLACK AND I'M PROUD!!
